Steven Townsend, a self-taught artist from Colne in northern England, has seen his popularity soar, establishing him as one of the United Kingdom's leading contemporary artists. Townsend first first became interested in art in his twenties and soon achieved national recognition as a painter of working dogs. The Fine Art Trade Guild, the U.K.'s Trade Association for the art and framing industry, voted Townsend Artist of the Year in 1999. He is an artist admired as much for his talent as for his versatility. In each of his paintings, he strives to capture the reality and beauty of creation. In each, he hides the intials JTC, which stand for Jesus The Creator, a testament to his faith.
